    How do you determine appropriate braid size for mono. I have 135 lb hollow core & 200 lb mono. Am I good?

    • @HawaiiGoesFishing
      @HawaiiGoesFishing Рік тому

      Generally the hollow braid line is matched to monofilament by weight. You can also do it based on diameter. The monofilament should be able to fit into the hollow braid but without being too tight. If it's too loose it will slip. If it's too tight you won't be able to slide the monofilament up into the hollow braid. BTW, a needle isn't always needed to slip the monofilament into the hollow braid. Just have to round off the tip of the monofilament with some 250 grit sandpaper so it doesn't catch the fibers of the hollow braided line.

    How much fisherman will get for 15-25 lb. tuna. A 60lb. tuna? 20-25lb Ono? 10lb. Mahi mahi?

    • @HawaiiGoesFishing
      @HawaiiGoesFishing 2 роки тому

      It can vary widely, and depends on the market price as well as the condition of the fish.

      @@HawaiiGoesFishing Your reply was much appreciated. Thank you. Had fisherman caught all mentioned, in 8.0 condition all, never frozen, fresh under ice same 24 hours (or less) what would he earn ? 3 10lb mahi 3 7lb skipjack 2 10lb yellowtail 1 20lb tuna (?) I'm curious

      We get our opah at Costco. (Southern California outside LA) 4 big fillets for $17. It’s fresh wild caught, not previously frozen. It’s in season now i suppose, since we just picked up a package yesterday. It was so delicious, my new favorite fish, very easy to cook. Freezes well too, which is good as there are only 2 of us.
